People have asked me how they can help, or "what do you need?"
More than anything else, I covet your prayers. The God who loves me has promised that He is my provider, and that He will take care of me. If he chooses to do that by encouraging friends or family (or even virtual strangers) to contribute money, there is a donation button on the right-hand side of the screen to assist you in that.
I have no idea what method God will choose to meet my needs, and I have to admit to some hesitancy in having created a donation button. In fact, I almost just took it down.
I think that what I'm experiencing is a common dilemma for many Christians. If God can heal me, why do I need to see the doctor, or have the surgery? Because sometimes the method that God uses IS the doctor, or the surgery.
Can the same be true of monetary needs? We're told to "bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Gal 6:10). It's one of the first verses I remember memorizing outside of John 3:16. How can you bear someone else's burden if you don't know what it is? So it must be ok to tell people that there's a need.
In fact, when I emailed the prayer request to my friends, there was an immediate response from one friend who sent me some $$ cause God told her to.
That was ok for me, and didn't feel like begging, because I hadn't emailed her asking for money - I emailed her asking for prayer.
But the donation button... that feels like asking ppl for money instead of trusting God to provide. I'm still pondering it, but I wanted to go ahead and create it in case anyone *did* feel led to contribute, and wanted an easy way to do so.
I don't have time to say all that I want to say, right now... expect an update on this one later tonight.
