"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah something - I always forget the address of that verse)
Apparently, he also knows our schedules. :-)
First off, in case I'd not mentioned this before, I'm in the interview process with a company that I would very much like to work for. The more I learn about them, the better they sound.
They do a LOT of interviews with their hiring process. So far, I've had the telephone pre-screening from the HR dept, a telephone interview with the Training Manager I would be working for (who's also the hiring mgr for the position), who's based in NJ, and another telephone interview with the other Training Mgr who's based in Portland.
All that's left is a face-to-face interview that includes a teaching demonstration (it's a client trainer position). Yesterday's phone interview left me expecting to be called to schedule that, so this morning I called the hiring manager to ask him whether I"d be able to do a powerpoint presentation with my teaching demo, or if it would be just standing and talking.
I had been hoping that I could do the demo during Thanksgiving week, figuring that no one would be teaching any classes that week, and thus they'd be available to observe me. It would have been challenging for me to do that, because on Monday I've got a Postal Service employment test, and class on Monday night, and I'm totally busy Tues/Wed doing installs for my part-time/sporadic independent contractor job, which will continue during the week after Thanksgiving.
So this morning, when I was asking the hiring manager whether I'd be able to do a powerpoint, he volunteered the information that my demo would be scheduled for sometime during the week of Dec 6, although he won't know until next week sometime when exactly it will be.
While I was initially disappointed at its being 2 weeks out, it didn't take me long to realize that by the week of Dec 6 I'll be done with everything I'm doing for this current project I'm working on, the next project we have won't start until 2 weeks after that, and I'll be almost done with my school semester (that's my last week of class), so I shouldn't have anything else competing for my time, and I'll be able to agree to any date/time that works for them, instead of having to manipulate my schedule to accommodate the interview.
So now I just have to figure out what topic I want to do for my demonstration/presentation.
UPDATE: My friend Shannon reminds me (in comments) that it's Jer. 29:11.
I meant to go back and update that after I looked up the verse, but I never had time to look it up today.
Thanks,
Shannon! It's been one of my favorite verses since a friend first
pointed it out to me during my freshman year in college, but I can
*never* remember its address.
Update #2 (11/20):
Kohl's was having a one-day sale, and I picked
up a new outfit for my interview. All I need now is a haircut, and to
build a powerpoint show for my presentation. :)
Jeremiah 29:11. ;)
Isn't that perfect how God works things out?
