When I moved in, there was a flagpole in the front yard (that was a major selling point for me)...
My first spring, I tried to dig a flower bed around the flagpole.
Behold the new flagpole flowerbed...
12 boundary pavers, 6 bags of pea-gravel, 4 bags of egg-rock, and 12 salvias that I DEVOUTLY HOPE will come back next year, as I don't want to dig through the rocks to plant new things. The big rocks you see acting as a divider between front and back are rocks I've found whilst digging/tilling around the yard. Sometimes I feel like I'm finding pieces of Stone Mountain in my yard.

That was quickly overtaken by crabgrass and fire ants :( so I started tossing rocks in there, as I found them around the yard.
But this year, I had an idea. **insert lightbulb emoticon here**

Two weeks later, I like it just as much as when I came up with the idea... it's really pleasant to see it from my office window while I'm working.
